Vision for an Urban Square
To celebrate their centenary, The Rotary Club of Northampton wanted to commission a piece of sculpture in a small traffic island near the Chronicle and Echo building, in front of what has now been redeveloped as a new building for the University of Northampton. Artemis were requested to produce a visual to suggest such a commission. The island is situated at a busy entrance to the town centre, and close to a large number of flat conversions. Consequently, it could form an important pedestrian link to the centre, and, if redesigned in an attractive manner, with interesting paving, seating etc, could form an eye-catching and useful place to relax on such a journey. Artemis’ visual, then, represented these proposals, and also looked at how ongoing maintenance costs and some initial revenue could be covered by incorporating colour
