Background to Memoryscapes
Having gone to university to paint, it was here that I discovered the darkroom, where I found an even better form of expression. My degree years were entrenched in woodlands, nature struggling at the mercy of ‘man’ and the ‘pure’ process of working with film in a darkroom environment.
Leaving this environment, I soon realised the difficulties of making a career out of such self-expression. My career path, then, began in landscape photography, leading to more commercial fashion, interiors and then garden freelance work.
This led me to the possibilities offered by the digital/ computer manipulated imagery. The design aspect of this, and my work with garden designers is the seed behind my desire to become involved in the design and implementation of physical space.
This 2-d design work is extremely useful in Artemis’ landscape design work both in its function of transporting ideas out of the ‘head’ and into a more tangible, yet exciting form, and also in conveying these ideas to clients.
In addition to this, I have developed the idea of ‘Memoryscapes’
